Why I Start with Science

The very first subject I want to address is science. While the prologue might have seemed highly philosophical, that is only half of my perspective. I deeply respect the power of philosophy, yet for it to function properly in reality, it must walk hand in hand with science. Philosophy without the solid ground of objective facts easily falls into the trap of empty abstractions.

I will not dive into complex technical depths today. I simply want to firmly establish my core perspective on how I view the world.

Recently, pop science channels have become obsessed with simulation theory. It is an incredibly attractive narrative that captures public attention and seamlessly converts it into revenue. Coupled with a blind faith in artificial intelligence, people now believe a perfect AGI will magically arrive to save us from the grueling grind of reality.

Elon Musk is the absolute messiah of this massive "singularity religion." Since he leads his own artificial intelligence company, driving this narrative is natural for him. He has argued for years that the probability of us living in base reality is close to zero. I completely understand why the public hangs on his every word. When everyone laughed and claimed it was physically impossible, he successfully launched reusable rockets and opened the era of electric vehicles. He is a verified genius, making the temptation to worship his insights as absolute truth undeniably strong.

Unfortunately, science is never that romantic.

Let us face the cold reality. Simulation theory is merely an unverified scientific hypothesis that is almost certainly wrong. The arrival of AGI is also not a guaranteed future. We might actually never reach that utopian destination because the theoretical foundation supporting artificial intelligence remains as fragile today as it was fifty years ago. Nothing has fundamentally changed. Mathematically speaking, this is the true consensus of the academic community.

In the following chapters, I will systematically dismantle these technical misconceptions. This strict logical process might make some people very uncomfortable or even consider me arrogant. This often happens when topics cross out of the realm of rational science and into the emotional domain of religion.

I am no different, for I, too, genuinely want to believe in that beautiful simulation fantasy. But science does not evolve through blind faith. That is strictly the methodology of religion.
